WHAT GEAR DO YOU USE?
I use various pieces of equipment to carry out aerial surveys. My drone of choice is the latest DJI Mavic Pro that shoots high quality images as well as 4K video. I also get asked to sometimes carry out photography from the ground and own a 800mm lens to get really close up to a building.
Sometimes it is not possible to fly the drone due to weather conditions, access issues or not getting permission to fly so I also use a very long pole with a camera attached that can reach up as high as your average two storey house. A lot of my surveys in built up areas use the pole and camera option and it is also cheaper.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU HAVE?
To fly drones commercially where I can charge for my services I had to undertake a week long course on an approved CAA course with a NQE and pass both a written exam and a practical flying test. I also had to write an operations manual which also had to be approved by the CAA.
Once I had passed all those the CAA issued me with a PFCO or Permission for Commercial operation. My official reference is below.
As well as all the necessary paperwork from the CAA I'm also fully insured.
